Last Request (Jokes)

March 10th, 2009

Two men, sentenced to die in the electric chair on the same day, were led
down to the room in which they would meet their maker. The priest had
given them last rites, the formal speech had been given by the warden, and
a final prayer had been said among the participants. The Warden, turning
to the first man, solemnly asked, “Son, do you have a last request?”

To which the man replied, “Yes sir, I do. I love dance music. Could you
please play The Macarena for me one last time?”

“Certainly,” replied the warden. He turned to the other man and asked,
“Well, what about you, son? What is your final request?”

“Please,” said the condemned man, “kill me first.”

Maximizing AdSense Revenues via Up-Selling

February 20th, 2009

If you go into any Blockbuster Video store, you quickly notice the
company’s use of a classic marketing technique – up-selling correlated
products. This technique is highly effective at maximizing
Blockbuster’s revenue and profit per customer. Moreover, this same
technique can be applied to websites using Google’s AdSense program.

Up-selling
is defined as selling additional, often higher priced, products and
services to current customers. Ideally, the upsold products are
correlated to the initial products – that is, they fill the same, or
similar customer need that the first product did. Blockbuster up-sells
its rental customers by offering them new and previously owned videos
for sale. It also groups videos and posts signs saying “if you liked
this video, you’ll like this video” spurring rentals of the new video.

To
show how this technique can be applied to Google AdSense, let us look
at an example of a painting website. To begin, it is critical to
understand that by enrolling in the AdSense program the “product” that
this website is selling is the keyword “paint” or “painting” as these
keywords will show up in the AdSense results posted on their web pages.
It is also critical to understand the price of these keywords, or how
much the advertiser pays when someone clicks on one of their ads (a
portion of which is passed on from Google to the owner of the painting
website). In this case, top advertisers are paying approximately 19
cents for the keyword “paint” and 45 cents for the keyword “painting.”

By
applying the technique of up-selling correlated products to the
painting website, the website owner could dramatically increase the
price of its products and the rate at which people buy (click on) the
product. Like in the Blockbuster example, the key is to first determine
expensive, correlated products to up-sell. In the painting case, one
keyword that quickly comes to mind is “home remodeling” as painting is
often part of a larger home remodeling project. Moreover, “home
remodeling” has a price of $1.70, or nearly nine times the price of
“paint.” Furthermore, finding keywords correlated to “home remodeling”
yields even more expensive keywords such as “home improvement loan”
which currently has a price of $6.50, or thirty-four times the price of
the original term “paint.”

Now that the more expensive and
correlated products have been identified, the website owner must create
web pages with quality content about these products and entice, via
text and links, visitors to go to these pages. The higher quality the
content, the more enticing the product or service becomes, and the more
likely a visitor is to click on one of the high paying AdSense ads.

In
summary, by simply posting AdSense ads on their websites, most website
owners are losing out on significant profits. Rather, they must
identify the most expensive keywords that are correlated to their
existing keywords and create web pages with quality content about these
pages. While this requires some work, the returns on this investment
are significant.

What Kind of Content Should I Create for My AdSense Site?

Adsense Publisher:Keep in Mind (About Google TOS)

February 19th, 2009

I often haired that many people is not getting success with their Adsense income and get banned by Google.Yes this is true. One of my friend asked me why and how it happen? And how can people get relief from this. I started to study about this and got that this is main reasons why people is not success and become banned with Google. I got a blog where the main reasons were wrote.I’m mentioning here some mistakes which violet Google adsense TOS.

Google Adsense tips, probably many you already know, and few you might gain by knowing now. These adsense faq are all picked from the Program Policies, Terms and Conditions and FAQ itself and presented in a simplified manner.

1. Never click your own adsense ads or get them clicked for whatever reason. You know this one very well. This is a surefire way to close you Adsense account. Never tell your office associates or friends to click on them. Keep a check if your family or children are busy increasing your income by clicking your ads and indirectly trying to stop your income. Dont even think of offering incentives for clicks, using automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software. Adsense is very smart to detect fraudulent clicks. Check the ads which appear on your pages by the Google Preview tool if required.

2. Never change the Adsense code. There are enough means of adsense optimization & customizations available to change the colour, background or border to suit your needs. Do whatever you want to do outside the code, never fiddle within the ad or the search code. They know it when you do. The search code has more limitations to colour and placement, but you should adhere to the rules. The code may stop working and violates the TOS.

3. Do not place more than 3 ad units and 3 ad links or 2 adsense search boxes on any web page. Anyway, ads will not appear in those units even if you place more ad units. But this is the limit they set, so it is better to stick to it.

4. Do not run competitive contextual text ad or search services on the same site which offer Google Adsense competition in their field. Never try to create link structures resembling the adsense ads. Never use other competitive search tools on the same pages which have Adsense powered Google search. They do allow affiliate or limited-text links. Update: Google has allowed you to run contextual advertising like Yahoo ads, Chitika etc provided the ads do not resemble Adsense ads.

5. Do not disclose confidential information about your account like the CTR, CPM and income derived via individual ad units or any other confidential information they may reveal to you. However, you may reveal the total money you make as per recent updates to the TOS.

6. Label headings as “sponsored links” or “advertisements” only. Other labels are not allowed. I have seen many sites label ads with other titles. Dont make your site a target in a few seconds gaze.

7. Never launch a New Page for clicked ads by default. Adsense ads should open on the same page. You may be using a base target tag to open all links in a new window or frame by default. Correct it now as they do not want new pages opening from clicked ads.

8. One Account suffices for Multiple websites. You do not need to create 5 accounts for 5 different websites. One account will do. If you live in the fear that if one account is closed down for violation of TOS, believe me they will close all accounts when they find out. You can keep track of clicks by using channels with real time statistics. They will automatically detect the new site and display relevant ads.

9. Place ads only on Content Pages. Advertisers pay only for content based ads. Content drives relevant ads. Although you might manage some clicks from error, login, registration, “thank you” or welcome pages, parking pages or pop ups, it will get you out of the program.

10. Do not mask ad elements. Alteration of colours and border is a facility to blend or contrast ads as per your site requirements. I have seen many sites where the url part is of the same colour as the background. While blending the ad with your site is a good idea, hiding relevant components of the ads is not allowed. Also do not block the visibility of ads by overlapping images, pop ups, tables etc.

11. Do not send your ads by email. Html formatted emails look good and allow placement of these javascript ads. But it is not allowed as per TOS. You do not want impressions registering on their logs from any email even once. They are watching!

12. Keep track of your content. So Adsense is not allowed on several non content pages. But it is also not allowed on several content pages too. Do not add it on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results. Also exclude any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content.

13. Do not alter the results after ad clicks or searches - Ensure you are not in any way altering the site which the user reaches to after clicking the ads. Do not frame, minimize, remove, redirect or otherwise inhibit the full and complete display of any Advertiser Page or Search Results Page after the user clicks on any Ad or Search results.

14. Avoid excessive advertising and keyword stuffing - Although the definition of ‘excessive’ is a gray area and is subject to discretion, yet Google adsense with correct placement, focused content and high traffic will get you much more income than other programs, so excessive advertising is not required. Keyword stuffing does target better focused ads, but overdoing it is not required.

15. Ensure you Language is Supported - Adsense supports “Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian and Turkish”. In addition, AdSense for search is available in Czech, Slovak, and Traditional Chinese. If your web pages language is not supported, do not use the code on such pages.

Update:
16. Maximum 2 referral button per product per page - With the launch of the google adsense referral program, you are allowed to put only 2 referral buttons for adsense referral, adwords referral, Google pack and Firefox with google toolbar referral.

17. Do not specify Google ads as your alternate ads. - Several services like Chitika eminimalls allow you to place alternate urls, when a targeted paying ad cannot be displayed. This involved creating an simple html page and putting the ad to be displayed instead. Even Adsense allows an alternate url feature instead of displaying public service ads. But never use Adsense ads as alternate urls.

18. Do not confuse with adjacent images - It was a common policy to increase CTR by placing same number of images as the number of text ads, which falsely gave the impression that the text ads represented an explanation to these images. Inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads is not allowed. Make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors.

Health Tips : Choose Your Chocolate Carefully

February 19th, 2009

last night I saw an article on health TIP. I’m sharing this here.

(HealthDay News) — Some kinds of chocolate, rich in antioxidants called flavonoids, have been shown to benefit heart health.

But all types of chocolate aren’t the same, and too much chocolate can negate any benefits, the Cleveland Clinic says.

The clinic offers this additional information:

  • Dark chocolate is richest in flavonoids, so choose dark chocolate over milk chocolate.
  • Chocolate does contain fat, but it contains both saturated (unhealthy) and unsaturated (healthy) fats. Chocolate should still only be consumed in small amounts.
  • Processed chocolate is higher in fat and lower in flavonoids, so avoid candy bars loaded with caramel, peanuts, nougat and other fattening fillings.

Mobile Phone Use May Damage Male Fertility

February 12th, 2009

Researchers said electromagnetic waves from mobile phones could exert “deleterious effects” on sperm through thermal or nonthermal effects or a combination of both.

Men making a lot of hands-free calls from a mobile phone stored in a pants pocket could damage their reproductive chances, a research group said.Researchers at the Center for Reproductive Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic found that radio-frequency energy from mobile phones decreased sperm quality. The study of 361 men, posted on the clinic’s Web site, found the greatest impact on those who used their phones for more than four hours a day.

While the initial study showed a correlation between semen quality and extended use of a mobile phone, researchers weren’t absolutely sure of the association, and said more research was needed.”The study results were sufficiently dramatic to attract extensive media attention, but additional research is necessary,” researchers Ashok Agarwal and Edmund Sabanegh said in releasing the results of the study.

The researchers said electromagnetic waves from mobile phones could exert “deleterious effects” on sperm through thermal or nonthermal effects or a combination of both. “The exact mechanism is still unknown, and is one of the critical questions to be answered.”

The center’s research is not the first to find harmful effects from mobile-phone use. In July, the director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute urged faculty and staff to limit the use of mobile phones because of possible cancer risk.

While acknowledging that the evidence thus far was controversial, Dr. Ronald B. Herberman said he was convinced “that there are sufficient data to warrant issuing an advisory to share some precautionary advice on cell phone use.”

Earlier this year, a medical journal said studies showed that heavy users of mobile phones face a 50% greater risk of developing cancer in their parotid gland, located near the jaw and ear, which is where cell phones are commonly held. However, Danish scientists studying 420,000 mobile phone users concluded that the devices don’t cause cancer. Herberman based his concerns on unpublished data.

For Better Fitness, Swim Like a Fish

February 11th, 2009

Swimming is easy on the body, and a great way to get fit. Aquatics are cardiovascular and strengthening all in one — and a great hot-weather exercise. What kid doesn’t love swimming?
Water exercise is one of the best nonimpact fitness activities around, says the American Council on Exercise. Just about anybody can swim or work out in water, including pregnant women, the elderly, the overweight, and people with arthritis or physical disabilities.

What’s great about swimming? The buoyancy of water reduces your weight by about 90%. That puts less stress on joints, bones, and muscles. That’s why a pool is a great place for people with arthritis or back problems to exercise.

When you swim, you involve all the major muscle groups — the shoulders, back, abdominals, legs, hips, and glutes. Because water provides 12 times the resistance, exercise in water helps build strength. Water exercise strengthens your heart, as well.

Do it right, and swimming can also help you lose weight. But you have to push yourself because it’s harder to lose weight by swimming than, say, by running. To get the burn, push hard for short spurts, then drop back to a less-intense level. It’s interval training, just like you would do with walking.

Getting Started on Water Fitness

Check with your local YMCA or a health club for a swim class. A “master’s” swimming group is one that’s for people over age 20 — so don’t be intimidated by the name.
Get comfortable putting your face in the water. Practice swimming drills with a kickboard. Then start learning the right swimming techniques. Getting the rhythm of the swim strokes and the breathing can be tricky at first. But coaches break it down and help you get there slowly.
If you’re just beginning to swim, start slowly. Try to swim for 10 minutes. Build up to a 30-minute water workout, three to five times a week.

The pool is a great place to get a good workout — and to feel like a kid again. Don’t be afraid to take the plunge!
